Sergei Lvovich Levitsky

Segei Lvovich Levitsky plays a large and important role in the history of photography. Levitsky created a camera during the industrial revolution that would be idea for portrait photographs. He created one of the first major photography studios in Russia. It was the lens that Levitsky used that made his camera perfect for portraits at the time.  He used a Charles Chevalier lens that brought speeds down to an f/5.6 for portraits.
